How to arrive

Reaching the University of Aveiro (UA):

  • By plane
The closest airport is Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport in Oporto, located 75 kms (aprox.) to the north of Aveiro. Portela International Airport in Lisbon is located 250 kms south of Aveiro.
    • From Oporto airport: The trip from Oporto airport to the railway station (called Porto-Campanhã) can be done by taxi for around 20€ and takes around 30 minutes. A less expensive way to reach the Porto-Campanhã railway station is using the Metro, which has a terminal at the airport. The trips by metro between the airport and the railway station take about 30 minutes and the ticket costs 1,50€ (Z4 ticket). There are regular trains to Aveiro from Porto-Campanhã railway station. The train journey takes between 40m and 1h15m, depending on the type of train used. Here you can find the train timetables.

    • From Lisbon airport: The more convenient transportation from Lisbon to Aveiro is using the train from Lisboa-Oriente railway station. To get to the train station from the airport, you can take a taxi (which takes about 10 minutes and costs around 10€) or, less expensive, a bus. Here you can find the train timetables.

  • By train
Aveiro railway station is located about 20 minutes walking distance or 5 minutes taxi ride from the University Campus. To reach the Campus, you can also use the bus (green line) which departs at regular intervals from outside the railway station.

  • By car
From the north, using the A1 motorway, or from the east, using the A25, follow in the direction of Lisbon. Exit the A1 in the direction of Aveiro and take the A25. There are two exits to the city from the A25, first "Aveiro-Norte" and some kilometres further on, the "Aveiro" exit. This second exit is best for reaching the University of Aveiro (the University is near the hospital). From the south, using the A1 motorway, follow in the direction of Porto. Exit the motorway at "Aveiro-Sul/Águeda" (exit 15) and follow the EN235 road directly to the University Campus (the University is near the hospital). From the south, using the A8 and A17 motorways, exit at "Aveiro-Sul” and follow the EN235 road directly to the University campus (the University is near the hospital).

Are you going to IWOTA2011 ?

If you intend to participate in 22nd International Workshop on Operator Theory and its Applications (IWOTA2011), July 3rd-9th, 2011, University of Seville, we have the following transportation suggestion. The best way is to go by train to Lisbon (timetable) and from there you have two good possibilities:

  • By direct bus
You can book here; Price: around 35 Euros (timetable example) [the biggest train station in Lisbon is "ORIENTE" where it stops the train from and to Aveiro, and from this train station is also one the points of departure of these buses to Sevilla].

  • By plane
Fare around 80 Euros (one way); see here.
